Intro
Hi. We are travelling around the world. It is crazy to be able to say that, but it is true. This epic 5 month trip is a dream come true. This site was created to document the trip and share our stories and pictures with friends and family back home.
It was about a year ago that Tim discovered United's Round the World promotion. 12 round trips out of DC within one year earns you a free ticket around the world. Twelve flights later, we had both qualified and were ready to begin planning. The restrictions seemed simple enough: continue traveling in one direction (no backtracking), and return by the end of the year. This proved to be more of a challenge than we had anticipated, but after several modifications to our route (and many hours on the phone with United), we had our final itinerary.
Itinerary
- July 14: Fly from Chicago to Miami
- July 15: Fly from Miami to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- July 30: Fly from Rio to Lisbon, Portugal
- August 3: Fly from Lisbon to Istanbul, Turkey (meet up with Nied and Rosenthal)
- August 16: Fly from Istanbul to Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- August 17: Fly from Dubai to Madras, India
- September 6: Fly from Madras to Bangkok, Thailand
- November 1: Fly from Bangkok to Singapore
- November 5: Fly from Singapore to Melbourne, Australia
- December 3: Fly from Brisbane, Australia to Christchurch, New Zealand
- December 20: Fly Home!
